The Early Hours

Stepping into a new paradigm.

Applying the lessons learned in The Midnight Hour

The gift of the Midnight Hour to those who successfully complete its process is the will to affirmatively choose their Soul Calling and release all inauthentic life strategies. Once you have crossed over, it is time to apply this will.

In the Early Hours you will become fluent in your Soul Calling and its universe

What you have crossed over into on the other side of the Midnight Hour is a new paradigm which you now must learn and become familiar with.

The new cycle that you have begun is governed and organized around this new, still unfamiliar, paradigm, and you must dedicate yourself to understanding its laws and patterns so that you can operate efficiently and fluently within it.

A seed underground.

A seed needing nurture

Metaphorically, in the Early Hours before Daybreak, you are a seed that is underground, who needs a relatively safe, nourishing environment in which it can grow strong and get ready to shoot above ground.

A time of solitude

As a seed getting ready to sprout, the Early Hours is typically a time where people seek solitude to focus their time and energy on introspection, centering themselves through spiritual practices, and growing and enhancing their spiritual and ordinary gifts.

A time of healing and regeneration.

Depending on your experiences before and during the Midnight Hour, the time may also call for detoxing, healing, and regeneration. As a seed you are rooting. You are laying a foundation for the future and preparing the necessary infrastructure and resources you need to succeed.

A journey through a desert.

A nomad traversing barren land.

The Early Hours can also be described as a journey through a desert. Like a nomad traversing a dry barren desert, you are not yet receiving any external blessings or abundance from the new path you have chosen.

Learning to live by miracle.

Instead, you must learn how your Soul offers extraordinary provisions for you in your ordinary life, which you need to make use of to survive. This requires faith because you will be walking a path which is not always visible to you. The Soul however does not only make a call, it also offers the resources you need to follow that call. Accessing these resources, learning to recognize their presence, and placing your trust in them, is part of the new paradigm you must learn.

A time without permanent structures or sources of support.

It is also a time where no permanent structures should be established, because you are not yet at your destination but must continue to move to get there. Everything in this time is transitory, even the ways in which you will be supported, and it is important not to get attached to any outward form, because they will not last.

The Early Hours is preparation to become a thriving and contributing member of one's community.

Renegotiating social expectations and commitments

Socially this time is typically challenging because for most people it requires taking a step back from responsibilities and commitments. This can cause others to feel unhappy with, or even directly against, the new path the person has chosen. In this time it can be necessary for you to renegotiate relational expectations between you and your community.

Ultimately by following our Soul Calling we will gain clarity of how to meaningfully contribute to our community and society. But in the Early Hours we are still working towards that clarity. Which is why many at this stage feel a need to take a step back to advance to that point without too many distractions or diversions

Sacred tradition that is rarely practiced or understood in the modern world

There are traditions and cultures where it is expected (or even demanded) that people at some point leave the social community they are a part of so they can mature and grow wiser. An example of such a cultural tradition is the Native American adolescent initiation vision quest, where a young person on the brink of transition to greater self and social responsibility is sent on a spiritual journey and rite of passage to receive sacred knowledge and guidance.

Contemporary examples

Within our own western cultural sphere we are exposed to this archetype indirectly when watching movies and television shows (for example Star Wars or Lord of the Rings), because the story of the protagonist often is told using the Hero’s Journey framework, originally conceived of by Joseph Campbell.

The Hero’s Journey is the story of a person leaving the world they know (one’s village) in order to step into the unknown where one will face trials and tribulations, before returning back to one’s village, but this time wiser and more mature.

As a society and community, we need the individuals of our social group to bloom, gain wisdom and mature. In the Early Hours, we, at the Hours of Being, support our clients to enhance themselves to gain what they need to thrive as a member of their society and community, and become able to make a real, meaningful contribution to the world through your Soul Calling.
