The Midnight Hour

In the Midnight Hour our strategies of avoiding our Soul Calling comes under pressure.

When a person crosses from the 11th Hour to the Midnight Hour it is no longer a voluntary choice whether they wish to deal with their Soul Calling, since the Midnight Hour is a time of personal reckoning where one’s defenses and strategies of avoiding one’s Soul Calling will be challenged.

This hour can be a time of great upheaval and distress. 

The storm we face in the Midnight Hour depends on what strategy we have used to defend themselves against their Soul Calling. In this time you should expect to experience severe push back in the areas of life that function as a barrier between you and your Soul Calling. 


Archetypical symptoms or experiences of the Midnight Hour

Depending on how you have defended yourself against your Soul Calling you may experience one or more of the following events:

  • Work related issues such as conflicts, stress, or even unemployment.

  • Issues in your relationship, potentially causing you and your romantic partner to separate or divorce.

  • Losing your sense of meaning and purpose, causing you to feel exhausted or even depressed.

  • Agony, mental or physical.

  • Experiencing that your suppression mechanisms or self distraction strategies stops working, which pushes you to seek more powerful ways to numb yourself.

  • Becoming overwhelmed by the negative consequences of an addiction to the point where you seek rehabilitation or a 12 step program. 

  • Or in some other way experiencing severe challenges forcing you to reevaluate your prior life choices.

A time of death and disintegration.

From the perspective of the parts of yourself that resist your Soul Calling, the Midnight Hour is a time of death and disintegration.

In the Midnight Hour everything not compatible with the Calling must let go and fall away.

It may be a sign of that you experiencing the Midnight Hour if you from a place of despair or desperation:

  • Seek a rehabilitation program, for example a 12 step program.

  • Look for professional help to deal with a personal crisis, for example therapy or coaching.

  • Seek a priest or spiritual leader for guidance.

  • Look for answers in sacred texts, spiritual oracles, or self-help material.

  • Find yourself spontaneously crying out for help or praying, especially if you do not normally turn to prayer in times of crisis.

A time of liberation.

From the perspective of the parts of yourself that are in favor of your Soul Calling, the Midnight Hour is a fertile void and the beginning of integration.

From the perspective of the part of yourself that does have a desire to follow your Soul Calling, the Midnight Hour is a fertile void from where your Soul Calling finally can grow and mature.

Even though the Midnight Hour subjectively is scary from the perspective of the parts of yourself that wish to resist your Soul Calling, it is also a time of liberation, because the Midnight Hour is a process of your authentic self undergoing liberation from the oppression, suppression, or disassociation that have been blocking your Soul Calling and those in favor of it.
