The metaphysical position of The Hours of Being

At the heart of the metaphysical position of the Hours of Being is a mystery. This mystery exists because the objective and absolute qualities of reality are never truly fully accessible to anyone.

With that being said, our approach revolves around the position that the objective and absolute qualities of reality are conscious and self-aware. In other words, we believe that the metaphysics governing our existence and reality possess a supernatural power and consciousness that everyone is subject to. Different traditions call this supernatural power and consciousness by different names. In the Hours of Being we refer to this power and consciousness as God. We are aware that many people are uncomfortable with this term, which is why we want to emphasize that our use of the term does not have any relationship to any religion. ‘God’ in this context does not refer to any description or claim made by any religion.

In the Hours of Being, God simply refers to the objective and absolute observer of reality and ourselves that holds the truth about who we actually are and our destiny in life. And who is an unavoidable participant in our experience and perception of reality that we need to attempt to account for.

Acknowledging the presence of God, is simply acknowledging that life is a mystery and that we are interested in this mystery. From this perspective, accepting God as an objective and absolute observer and affirmatively choosing to include God’s perspective, is an act of humility that acknowledges that there are things we do not know and that our relative perception on things by itself is limited. Including God in our personal process and life means that we have chosen to be open to go beyond what we already know and enter into a relationship with the mystery of life. In the Hours of Being we help people connect with this mystery and discover how to shape their life in ways that honors this mystery.
